This presentation highlights the “Civic Club” in the county, which advocated for women’s suffrage starting in the late 19th century and the “Anti-Suffrage Society” of the southwestern part of the county, which advocated against woman’s suffrage. The presentation will feature prominent individuals and arguments from both sides. It will also explain the roll that Madison County played in the statewide push for suffrage and the eventual push for a woman’s suffrage amendment.

Presenter: Matthew Urtz, Madison County Historian
