University Museums Opening Receptions
The Picker Art Gallery and Longyear Museum of Anthropology invite you to celebrate our spring exhibition openings this Thursday afternoon. The events overlap so you can easily visit both museums. Shuttle service will be provided between the events from 5–6 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.
Longyear Museum of Anthropology Opening Reception

4:30 p.m. Opening remarks by Anja Chávez, director of university museums; and Ntokozo Kunene, visiting assistant professor of theater and guest curator
Celebrate the opening of Fashioning Africa: Impact, Influence, and Inspiration of African Crafting Traditions with Professor Kunene, her fall 2018 Costume Design students, and the LMA.
Picker Art Gallery Opening Reception
5–7 p.m., Picker Art Gallery, 2nd floor, Dana Arts Center, Colgate University
5:15 p.m., comments by Anja Chávez, director of university museums and Nicholas West, curator of collections
Join the Picker for the opening of two exhibitions: Sustaining Vision: The Dr. Luther W. Brady H’88 Collection at the Picker Art Gallery, recognizing the legacy of Dr. Luther Brady, and Three Acts: Felix Gonzalez-Torres · Senga Nengudi · Joe Overstreet, featuring installations by three impactful American artists.
