The World As It Is: Ben Rhodes Talks Global Events, Speechwriting, and What Comes Next
At age 29, Ben Rhodes quit his job and joined Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign, a decision that would change his life forever. Rhodes ascended from foreign policy speechwriter to deputy national security advisor to close collaborator with President Obama. He was there for the administration’s every trial and triumph.
In 2018, he released a memoir, "The World As It Is," capturing every moment of his tenure with President Obama. Greg Pecker of The New Yorker called it “the closest view of Obama we’re likely to get until he publishes his own memoir.”
On March 19, College Democrats are sitting down with Mr. Rhodes to discuss the world as it is now, his career, and how as a party we should be talking about foreign policy today. He will be signing copies of his memoir after the talk.
