Scholar and activist Shaun Harper contends that there is a "Mis-education of White America" that is having a lasting impact upon our schools and society. And therefore he believes that colleges of education and teacher preparation programs need to come together to transform the K-12 curriculum as well as the overall university level curriculum. Moreover, social justice scholar-teachers are calling on not only faculty of color and other activist faculty to initiate and implement this transformation, but more importantly it needs to start with all faculty, administration, and staff. Since my arrival on Colgate campus in 2002, students have been questioning why there is not a "required" course that center issues related to race and racism. And from these dialogues, they begin to inquire about the need for a "diversity" course that addresses "white supremacy, cis-heteropatriarchy, coloniality, ableism, and environmental racism and capitalism."[1] In this session, I address the complexities as well as the needs for such a curriculum transformation to take place on not only Colgate's campus, but campuses throughout the United States.
