This session offers students a broader context for both the arts and entrepreneurship. Using the arts as a focus, this session explores how an arts entrepreneur’s sustainability may depend on more than technique, artistic interpretation, networking or business knowledge. In this session, you will learn that the arts, a life in the arts and the decision to “entrepreneur” require a continuous negotiation of a risk beyond the artistic or financial—choice.

Dr. Gary Beckman is founding director of NC State University’s Entrepreneurial Studies in the Arts program and author of The New Arts Entrepreneur, the first uniquely designed pedagogy for arts entrepreneurship educators and students.

Advance RSVP requested; walk-ins welcome. This workshop is presented by the Office of Entrepreneurship and Innovation and co-sponsored by the Division of Arts and Humanities.
