Other Russias: Ten Years Ago and Now
Artist Victoria Lomasko works as a "graphic reporter" on the political frontlines and cultural margins of Russia. Her book Other Russias (available in English) chronicles the political protests of 2012 and gives voice to invisible and marginalized communities in Russia, from political activists to LGBTQ people to juvenile prison inmates. Other Russias was shortlisted for the Pushkin House Prize in 2018, and Victoria has given talks and painted murals across the US and Europe. Join us for a talk about her art, political protest, and life on the cultural margins in Russia.
Hosted by the Russian and Eurasian Studies Program (REST), with generous support from REST, the Women’s Studies Program, the Art and Art History Department, and the Core CI program
