Katharine Kuharic is an American artist known for multi-layered representational paintings that combine allegory, humor, social critique, and aspects of Pop and pastoral art. Her paintings employ painstaking brushwork, high-keyed color, discontinuities of scale, and a profusion of hyper-real detail, figures, and associations. In this illustrated presentation of her paintings, Katherine will trace her career-long investigation of queer sexual and political identity, American excess and suburban culture, social mores, the body and death, and more recently the multiple threats of climate change.

Presenter: Katherine Kuharic is Professor of Art at Hamilton College. Her work has been exhibited in the U.S. and abroad with a number of solo exhibitions. She has received many awards and honors, most recently, the Emily Harvey Foundation Fellowship in Venice, Italy.
