The Science of Chocolate
Friday, February 16, 2024 3:30pm to 4:30pm
About this Event
1819 Oak Dr, Hamilton, NY 13346, USA
Americans spend over $2 billion each year on Valentine’s Day candy, and the heart-shaped box of chocolate is perhaps the most iconic version of a sweet gift. Where did our love affair with chocolate (and love) come from, and how is it crafted? Join our panel conversation about the ins and outs of chocolate as we consider the history of chocolate, the impacts of farming cacao, how cacao beans become the treat we adore, why we love the bittersweet taste of chocolate, and more. Reception to follow.
The Science of Chocolate, an NASC colloquium, will be presented by Priscilla Van Wynsberghe, associate professor of biology.
