Milky Way and Marshmallows: Dark Skies Chat
About this Event
Ever wonder how artificial lighting reduces visibility of the night sky? Join Jeff Bary for a casual campfire chat with s'mores and hot chocolate at the Colgate Community Garden. We will explore causes of light pollution, how to reduce it, and the importance of dark skies for health, ecological protection, and culture.
Bary is the Sweet Family Chair and professor of physics and astronomy.
The Community Garden is located past the townhouses at 1737 Route 12B. If the parking lot is full, additional parking is available in the townhouse parking lot.
This event is free and open to all Colgate and Hamilton community members.
