Living Writers guest: Brock Clarke, Author of The Happiest People in the World

Brock Clarke

Set partly in Denmark and partly in a fictional town just north of Utica, NY, Brock Clarke’s novel, The Happiest People in the World, was a New York Times Editor’s Choice Pick, an Indie Next Pick, and an Amazon Book-of-the-Month Choice. Among Mr. Clarke’s other works are What We Won’t Do, winner of the Mary McCarthy Prize in Short Fiction, and An Arsonist’s Guide to Writers’ Homes in New England, which was a national bestseller. His most recent story collection is The Price of the Haircut; his eighth book, a novel titled I Am Calvin Bledsoe, comes out next year. A native of Little Falls, NY, Mr. Clarke now lives in Portland, ME, and teaches creative writing at Bowdoin College.
