View map Add to calendarHala Alyan is a Palestinian American writer, poet, actor, and clinical psychologist. Salt Houses, the first of her two novels, won the Dayton Literary Peace Prize and the Arab American Book Award. Ms. Alyan is also the author of five award-winning poetry collections, including The Twenty-Ninth Year and, most recently, The Moon That Turns You Back, which one critic describes as a “magnificent reckoning and witnessing.” She lives in Brooklyn with her family.
