It was followed by The Queen of the Night, which The Washington Post described as “extraordinarily beautiful and dramatic, a brilliant performance filled with glittering scenes.” How to Write an Autobiographical Novel, an essay collection, came out to critical acclaim in 2018. Among Mr. Chee’s many honors are a Whiting Award and a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts. He is an associate professor of English at Dartmouth College.
