This course will provide an overview of US immigration trends over the last century. We will spend most of our time discussing the economic determinants and effects of U.S. immigration. We will briefly review the history of US immigration policy and compare our system to other developed countries. The course will conclude by discussing some of the frontiers in the economics of immigration.
Facilitator: Nicole Simpson is W. Bradford Wiley Professor of Economics at Colgate University. Her research is on determinants of immigration. She has written a textbook on the economics of immigration and has taught classes at Colgate on immigration.
