Life Long Learning Program- An Explanation and Conversation about Areas of Law That Have Become Increasingly Relevant

A basic legal primer on the following four legal issues: 1) Function and power of a criminal grand jury; 2) Plea bargaining in the resolution of criminal cases; 3) Obtaining a firearm or pistol permit in NY; 4) Custody and visitation rights, or lack thereof, for grandparents or other relatives in Family Court. This class should provide the participant with a working knowledge of these legal issues and an opportunity to ask questions and get answers.

Facilitator: Biagio DiStefano began his career as a Madison County assistant district attorney and coroner. He was a NY State judge and presided over cases in County, Family and Surrogate’s Courts for 30 years. He retired from the bench in 2015.
