Life Long Learning Program- A Walk Through Hamilton's History

This class will offer a look at the architectural history of Hamilton with photos of fifteen of the village’s most significant old houses. The photographs and information will be from the presenter’s new book about Hamilton’s historic homes. The second session will be a walk through history starting with the village office and proceeding down the length of Payne St. The houses date from 1800 to 1901, and participants will be able to see some of the beautiful interior features.

Facilitator: Judy Lyrek has lived in Madison Co. for 23 years and has had a lifelong interest in historic homes. In 2007 she wrote a book about historic homes in and around Eaton, NY. In 2015 she was hired by the Hamilton Historical Commission to complete a comprehensive photographic survey of houses in the village that were built before 1915. The survey will be released by the committee in the form of several volumes in 2019.
