"All Libraries for All People: Safety and Escape in American Libraries"

Guest Speaker: Debbie Krahmer
Associate Professor in the Libraries

For many queer and trans people in the US, libraries have served as a safe place to learn, grow, and explore. Books can be an escape from the mundane or the traumatic, and libraries themselves can serve as a second (or only) home. From the “Joy of Gay Sex” to Drag Queen Storytimes, libraries have also been a place of controversy. Join us for a brief presentation followed by a discussion around libraries, inclusion, and how our Colgate Community can find home in our public spaces, even during a pandemic.
