Join us as The Wesleyan Gamelan Ensemble perform Wahyu Cakraningrat: The Divine Blessing of Kingship (from the Mahabharata).

Wesleyan University's Javanese Gamelan Ensemble presents Javanese wayang kulit, or a shadow puppet play, that employs intricately carved leather puppets and is accompanied by a gamelan ensemble. A magnificent orchestra of bronze gongs, xylophone, drums, strings, and voices, the gamelan accompanies feasts, ceremonies, and dances.

Audience members are welcome to stroll around the performance to see it from all view points.

The gamelan study group at Wesleyan University has been in existence since the late 1960s. The class focuses on direct, hand-on experience of performing Central Javanese
