Being inclusive is the foundation for a creative and innovative team. In this training, you’ll learn about the three key elements of inclusive leadership: trust, development, and empowerment. Through the discussion and introduction of novel leadership tools, participants will develop ways to consistently create trusting environments that enable them to responds to social justice challenges in innovative, solution-oriented ways.
Workshop Speakers
- Rodney Agnant (he/him) currently works at Colgate University as the director for campus culture and inclusion. In his work, he focuses on supporting Colgate to embody its diversity, equity, and inclusion values by providing opportunities for leadership development training and coaching, as well as through consultation and strategic planning. Rodney completed both his bachelor’s and his master’s degree at Colgate. His master’s thesis focused on transformational leadership and how it shapes meaning-making, resilience, and belonging.
- Amari Simpson (he/him/they/them) joined Colgate in 2023 as the director for diversity and equity after many years in higher education. In his work, Amari also focuses on supporting Colgate’s diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) initiatives through DEIB professional development, strategic planning, and consultation. Before starting at Colgate, Amari worked at SUNY Brockport, the University of Rochester, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and Middlebury College. Amari earned a bachelor of arts in psychology from Middlebury, a master of education degree from Boston University, and a PhD from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
