The First Annual Small File Media Festival is a colorful, imaginative celebration of the tiny image featuring low-bandwidth movies that stream with no damage to the planet and prove that great cinema can be under 5 megabytes. In the words of media scholar Jussi Parikka, “Size matters, small is better, and tiny is best, which is not merely to argue for a different aesthetics or narrative structures (that too) but also for an understanding that all media is media ecology – and as such, directly related to infrastructures with environmental costs.”

Join us for a screening of selected “small films,” followed by the Annual New Media virtual lecture by the festival’s curator Laura Marks.
