About this Event
13 Oak Dr., Hamilton, NY 13346
Join us for Visiting Assistant Professor in Environmental Studies, Dr. Taylor Davey, for a discussion about her research Questioning Carbon Accountability as Pathway to Net Zero.
Since the Paris Agreement in 2015, cities have increasingly been seen as spaces to close the emissions reduction gap left by national governments in reaching net zero global goals. This is now leading many municipalities to adopt strict emissions targets and establish new systems of accountability to measure up how local policies perform quantitatively according to annual emission benchmarks. While underscoring the importance of urban environmental change to global decarbonization, this presentation examines whether framing urban action through a narrow emissions lens offers a tangible pathway to reach our goals and considers the political conflicts in framing urban transition as a ‘technical' problem.
Hot wraps by Hamilton Whole Foods will be provided and will include gluten-free, vegan, and nut-free options. Please bring your own reusable water bottle.
