Dr. Scot Brown: "Soul Power: Soul Music and Civil Rights/Black Power Politics"

Dr. Scot Brown will present a multimedia lecture entitled "Soul Power: Soul Music and Civil Rights/Black Power Politics." Dr. Brown is associate professor of History and African American Studies at UCLA. Dr. Brown is the author of Fighting For Us and editor of Discourse on Africana Studies. He has written widely on African American history, social/political movements, music and popular culture, appearing as an expert commentator on African American music and popular culture for National Public Radio, Sirius/XM Radio, DATV, BET/Centric, TV One, and VH1, and in several documentaries on the Civil Rights and Black Power movements, including the PBS documentary The Black Panthers: Vanguard of the Revolution.
