About this Event
There is an overwhelming need for educators, particularly in K-12 schools. The Physics and Ed Studies Departments along with Career Services have invited local teachers to connect with students and share their experience as educators in various subjects through casual conversations and dinner. The first dinner will take place on Tuesday, September 21 at 6pm and will feature two teachers, Anne Marie and Gary Weeks, who taught in the STEM and English fields.
Over a 36 year teaching career, including The Perkiomen School, Sherburne-Earlville High School and Hamilton Central School, Anne Marie taught middle school science and high school chemistry and physics. She was an advisor for Student Council, Ski Club and the Environmental Action Club and briefly coached softball and field hockey. Anne Marie also taught introductory chemistry labs, part-time, at Colgate for 23 years.
Gary spent 34 years teaching middle school English at Sherburne-Earlville Central School in Sherburne, NY. He also coached boys and girls basketball for 26 years. Aside from teaching he served on numerous curriculum, strategic planning, and interview committees and chaperoned various school events. In retirement, he currently serves on the Hall of Honor committee at Hamilton Central School in Hamilton, NY.
