About this Event
Join Rebecca Mendelsohn, Curator of the Longyear Museum of Anthropology and Co-Director of the University Museums program for a tour discussing the creation of this exhibition as well as how students are involved with our museums at Colgate.
Entangled Intimacies: Tradition, Motion, and Memory is an exhibition inspired by the introductory course of the revised Africana and Latin American Studies curriculum (ALST 199). This exhibition highlights connections among coastal and island communities of the Atlantic and Pacific. Works from the Caribbean, West Africa, Latin America, and the Pacific Islands feature shared themes of trans-oceanic communication, diasporas, transnationalism, colonialism, and resistance. This exhibition aims to provide space for multiple perspectives through public label submissions (ask a staff member!). Keep coming back, as new labels will be added throughout the semester.
