Collaborative Web-based Annotation with Hypothesis
Hypothes.is is a free digital tool that enables web-based collaborative annotation of documents among students and instructors. Hypothesis (https://web.hypothes.is/) allows users to add their comments, notes and other marginalia to web-pages, PDFs and other documents hosted online, thereby providing a space for students and instructors to engage in asynchronous discussions of course readings. This workshop will provide an overview of the Hypothes.is tool with an emphasis on various instructional uses of web-based annotation and the ways in which it can complement other digital tools used as part of remote teaching. Examples of how Colgate faculty have used Hypothes.is will be shared, as well as feedback from Colgate faculty and students who have recently used Hypothes.is in their courses. This session will take place as a Zoom meeting. Participants will receive the link to join the meeting via their confirmation email.
