Hypothes.is (https://web.hypothes.is/) is a digital tool that enables students and instructors to collaboratively read and annotate PDFs and web pages. When used inside of Moodle, Hypothes.is makes this marginalia open to all users in a course, thereby transforming reading and meaning-making into a collaborative, shared experience. This workshop will forefront various instructional uses of social annotation and research on the ways in which Hypothes.is supports student learning across disciplines. Feedback from Colgate faculty and students who have used Hypothes.is in their courses will also be provided. Workshop participants will learn how to create Hypothes.is enabled readings inside of a Moodle course through an interactive demonstration of the tool.
