Colgate professor and artist Lakshmi Luthra will discuss the challenges of working as an independent artist in today’s documentary landscape with documentary filmmaker Brett Story.

Brett will draw from her two decades as a documentary filmmaker to talk about the particular challenges faced by women and non-gender binary artists, mothers, and low-income artists. Brett will describe her own career path and offer example from previous and current feature films to de-mystify the documentary industry and field of independent film production. She will share insights and advice drawn from her own experiences and engage a group conversation about navigating the documentary field.
