Renowned Soviet Jewish photographer Evgenii Khaldei captured the fight between the USSR and Nazi Germany from the first day of World War II in 1941 to the Red Army's 1945 victory in Berlin. In 1995, Khaldei had his first photographic exhibition in the United States at Colgate University and subsequently gifted nearly 100 of his photographs to Picker Art Gallery.

Join us in celebrating the publication of the long-overdue catalog of these remarkable photographs, The Twentieth Century Through a Camera's Lens: A Guide to the Evgenii Khaldei Photography Collection, with a talk and book signing by author Marilyn Campeau, assistant professor of transnational history, Department of History and Geography, Université de Moncton.

Picker Art Gallery is hosting this program in partnership with the Jewish Studies Program, the Russian and Eurasian Studies Program, the Department of History, and Colgate University Press.
