Alternative Cinema, Us (dir. Jordan Peele, 2019), Film to watch before the 4/20/21 Q&A

Films to watch before the 4/20/21 Q&A with Professor David Bering-Porter (New School)

Accompanied by her husband, son and daughter, Adelaide Wilson returns to the beachfront home where she grew up as a child. Haunted by a traumatic experience from the past, Adelaide grows increasingly concerned that something bad is going to happen. Her worst fears soon become a reality when four masked strangers descend upon the house, forcing the Wilsons into a fight for survival. But even a bigger surprise hits the Wilsons when the attackers take their masks off….No less than Get Out, Peele’s Us invests every moment, every twist, every diabolically conceived and gleefully invoked detail with graphic, psychological resonance and controlled tone, in performance and gesture.
