What does it mean to come from somewhere? 

Fox Maxy (Mesa Grande Band of Mission Indians and Payómkawichum) is a director and artist. She has a professional background in advertising and fashion production. She makes vibrant, magical realism films. Maxy was named a Chanel Next Prize winner in 2024. Her first feature length film, Gush (71 min, 2023) premiered at Sundance Film Festival 2023. Maxy’s films have screened at festivals and museums, including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), International Film Festival Rotterdam, and the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. Her film, Guts and Glitz (70 min, 2024), is currently streaming on Mubi.
