Join Dr. John Mrachek as he discusses his journey from English major to physician and shares how his liberal arts education shaped his journey in medicine.

About Dr. John Mrachek
Dr. Mrachek is a clinical anesthesiologist with Anesthesiology, PA where he works within the North Memorial Health System in Minneapolis. As a board-certified anesthesiologist and a diplomat of the American Board of Anesthesiology, Dr. Mrachek has been providing clinical anesthesia care since 2006. Working in a broad range of clinical settings, including a Level One trauma center, tertiary care and community hospitals, as well as an ambulatory surgery center, he provides clinical anesthesia care for a variety of clinical procedures including orthopedics, trauma, cardiothoracic, obstetrics, neurospine, endoscopy, and surgical oncology.

As a collaborator and an innovator, Dr. Mrachek has been part of the development of many important clinical programs. Working closely with nursing, physician peers and patients, he led the development of a comprehensive acute pain service. Additionally, he was the physician lead for the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) Program, Perioperative Pain Management for Opioid Dependent Patients, and Epic Anesthesia Module development and rollout.

Dr. Mrachek holds a degree in English from Saint Johns University in Collegeville, MN and Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Minnesota Medical School. He completed a transitional internship at Hennepin County Medical Center and his anesthesiology residency at the University of Minnesota. Additional education includes the Physician Leadership College at The University of Saint Thomas, the Advanced Training Program at Intermountain Healthcare Institute and the entrepreneur focused Expedition and Explorers program at Studio/E.
