Join the Organization of Asian Sisters in Solidarity (OASIS) in welcoming Nu’utupu Giles in a poetry performance at the WMST Lounge on Thursday, April 12 at 11:30 a.m.

Will is a Samoan poet from Hawai’i who writes about their experience with colonialism, race, drug abuse, depression, and gender identity. Will identifies as fa’afafine, which is a Samoan third-gender. In addition, Will has critical views on colonialism, immigration, and the struggle of maintaining one’s heritage in white America. In 2008, Will and the team from Hawai’i won the Annual Brave New Voices International Youth Poetry Slam Festival. Will’s current tour is called “Until Name Becomes Prayer” and focuses on the Pacific Islander experience, resistance to colonialism, and gender identity. 

RIG will be catered for lunch.
