The Preamble to the Constitution contains the basic principles that underlie the nature of the new nation launched by the Founders. What we measure determines what We the People expect our leaders to focus on and support. Is GDP the best and proper tool? And, assuming we need more, how can decisions be arrived at and supported.

About the Presenters:

Dick Cheshire and Arthur Rashap are co-chairs of the Promise america Alliance, promoting the Preamble and looking at ways to heal the National Divide.

Arthur Rashap has had a multifaceted career. He earned a J.D. and LL.M and was a Fulbright Scholar in Spain. He worked at Wall Street Law and Investment Banking firms. He became Director of the Brooklyn Institute of Arts and Sciences and then Asst Com'r of the NY Dept of Cultural Affairs and then Asst Director of the NYS Council for the Arts. He then joined the Counsel's Office at the.Rockefeller Family. After that he practiced law in Woodstock, NY, was Director of the Erpf Catskill Cultural Center, worked with Larry Rockefeller on Real Estate Develop.m.ent in the Beaverkill Valley. He then worked on alternatives for long-term care for elders.
