Life Long Learning Program- Reflections and Projections

American colleges and universities have histories.  They have ups and downs, periods of growth and periods of retrenchment.  Brian W. Casey, Colgate's 17th president, is a historian of higher education.  For his talk, President Casey will reflect on American higher education and on the state of Colgate.  He will offer impressions of his first year at the university and his thoughts on Colgate's future.

Facilitator:  Brian W. Casey was inaugurated as Colgate's 17th president in 2016. Casey began his career in law and then transitioned to higher education after earning a PhD from Harvard University in the history of American civilization, focusing specifically on the history of American higher education and American intellectual history.
At Colgate, Casey is refocusing a commitment to Colgate's core identity: academic excellence and an immersive residential program in the liberal arts, preparing Colgate's students for well-rounded lives and careers.
