Life Long Learning Program- Globalization and the Populist Reaction in the U.S. and Europe

This course will examine the populist reaction to both globalization and ‘the establishment’ in the United States and western Europe, emphasizing the causes of this reaction and the implications for democracy and global governance. Topics will include Brexit, the election of Trump, and the future of the European Union.

Facilitator: Ed Fogarty is an associate professor of political science and director of the international relations program at Colgate University. His work focuses on the European Union and the intersections among globalization, democracy, and global governance.
